Interview with Pretty Ugly at GrrrlZines.net
+ 100% feminist! - An interview with Kelly of Pretty Ugly
Lot’s Wife Review of Issue #1
Evolving from the fantastic ‘Kill the Real Grrrls’, Pretty Ugly explores feminist views by sharing stories, opinions and “heavy petting” advice. There are no we-hate-men rants - heaven forbid if girls threaten boys - and most reviews are ‘yay-for-girls’, yet remain interesting critiques. There’s even a mention of Babes in Toyland and Suicidal Tendencies, so very awesome! Although some reading is a bit dry, Emily, a contributor, makes a good point about the pass the parcel themes within zines, which prompt readers to contribute their ideas to P-U. The P-U collective prove feminism’s relevance today, more than ever. - Nat Hendry
GirlPunk.net Review of Issue #1
Although this unabashedly feminist zine is geared towards Australian women, you don’t have to be from the land down under to appreciate it. The debut issue of this impressive zine contains well-written essays, an interesting interview with Sara from Nitocris, and features on inspiring women like Etta James and Diana Rigg (Avengers tv show).I especially enjoyed the brief, but informative lesson on Australian fem rock and commentary on newspaper articles that almost seem to bizarre to be true. The zine is pro-women through and through and is presented in an intelligent and informative matter. There’s no guy-bashing nor is there any sugar-coated philosophy’s. This is a straight-forward publication that tells it like it is; just take a gander at “Everything a Teenage Girl Should Know” or “Australia Day” is you need further proof! If you’re interested in feminist themes (or even if you’re not), you should definitely make it a point to check out what Pretty Ugly has to offer.-Jessica O.
Vox Populis Review of Issue #1
Pretty Ugly is an Australian feminist zine, not just for women but for men too - hooray! It displays the intelligence and strength of the (predominantly female) writers without the aggression often found in women’s zines. With articles such as ‘Women in Mythology’, ‘Valentine’s Day’ and an article on the Netherlands’ Active Bitch Front, I found this zine simultaneously informative, thought-provoking and entertaining. I highly recommend this zine (review by Jane for VOX POPULIS).

Hello Kelly.
Nice to see you are still going.
